The popularity of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is certainly widespread, and for a while it was the second most popular Switch game of all time, until record-breaking sales of Pokemon Legends: Arceus knocked Animal Crossing down into third place. However, the game still remains incredibly popular, even among celebrities as proven by Brie Larson. The Captain Marvel star has even been a part of Nintendo’s marketing for the Switch, appearing in an advert playing both Fortnite and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Now, Brie Larson looks forward into what the new year of 2022 is bringing, and Animal Crossing appears to inspire some of her decisions.

In a video posted to her YouTube channel, the Captain Marvel actress expresses how she is looking to prioritize herself in 2022. Alongside this, Larson indicated that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has impacted on the things she is doing in reality. Through gardening and planting trees in game, Larson decided to try gardening in real life. On top of that, cooking was something she expressed as a great hobby in Animal Crossing, and so she has been recently obsessed with cooking as well.
Cooking has recently been improved with the “Happy Home Paradise” DLC making its way to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, giving players new recipe options and allowing for greater variation in the meals they can make. The DIY recipe book can be bought from Franklin, and while many enjoyed the fleshed out cooking system, there was a lot more that could’ve been done in some players’ minds. For Brie Larson, the recipes that did exist in Animal Crossing were just an inspiration for her to begin her new cooking hobby.
The Captain Marvel actress is not the only celebrity known to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood has reportedly visited players’ islands in game, and was accordingly polite during his visits. Current U.S. President Joe Biden also utilized Animal Crossing in order to encourage players to vote during the 2020 election. It seems the popularity of Animal Crossing: New Horizons knows no bounds.
